Rudzikas.  In the article, dedicated to the 50-th anniversary of the main Lithuanian science popularization Journal “Mokslas ir gyvenimas” (Science and Life) Z. R. Rudzikas describes the present situation in education and science in Lithuania, underlines the role of international cooperation, also describes the newest modern informational technologies, presents the LitGrid and BalticGrid projects as characteristic examples of such activities.

An article titled "Maailma suurim teadusaparaat" ("The biggest scientific instrument of the world") by Andi Hektor, Kristjan Kannike.  The arcticle gives an overview of LHC experiment at CERN and the Grids around the experiments. Also, the BalticGrid project is described in the article.

An article titled "Grid continues to develop" ("Grid tīkls turpina attīstīties") by Bruno Martuzāns.  The article reviewed the Latvian Grid day event which took place on 24 April 2007 in Riga and was organised by IMCS UL. The most important speeches and authors were mentioned, many pictures were published.

prcentrs.lv, reitingi.lv, fails.lv, boot.lv, tehnika.delfi.lv, tvnet.lv An article titled “Zinātnieku atbalstam prezentēs GEANT un Grid iespējas” ("GEANT and Grid possibilities presented to support scientists") by Jānis Riņķis.  A press release was written about the upcoming GEANT and Grid Info day event. It focused on the upgrade of the GEANT connectivity and the main user of that – Latvian Grid clusters.

The LAS book: “The Activity of the Lithuanian Academy of Sciences in 2006”
The book by Z. R. Rudzikas. gave an overview of two very successful IT projects LitGrid and BalticGrid financed by Lithuanian and EU. Lithuanian Academy of Sciences has successfully integrated a large number of universities and research institutes to learn about these technologies and usage for the solving complex scientific problems.

Magazine “Sakaru pasaule”
An article titled "Latvijas akadēmiskais datortīkls – Eiropas sastāvdaļa" ("Latvian academic network – European component") by Jānis Ķikuts and Rihards Balodis. The article gave an overview about 7FP opportunities, situation in Latvia regarding the academic networking and its users, including grid, the most demanding users. The overview of the 65th conference of the University of Latvia were also given, where for the first time a grid dedicated section was organised.

Dziennik Polski An article titled "Grid laczy" ("Grid unites") by M. Nowy was published in the Cracow-area daily "Dziennik Polski". The article gave a short description of Grid technology and the reasons for its use. The  process of creating the Grid in  Krakow was also presented. Professor Michal Turala (of BalticGrid) was quoted together with Zofia Mosurska, Henryk Pałka and Tomasz Szepieniec. The article also mentioned the BalticGrid initiative and its goals. The plans for the next project with other partners (from Belarus, Ukraine and Russia) were also  introduced.

Also it is really important to talk about the successful examples of Grid usage by Lithuanian scientists in many fields of science: atomic, particle, nuclear, physics and astrophysics.

An article titled "Vai dators gatavosies eksāmeniem arī Latvijas skolēna vietā?" ("Will the computer do exams instead of latvian pupil?") by Ieva Valtere. The article about usages of the Latvian Grid network, particularly about the Semantic web application, developed by Semti-Kamols project. The Latvian Grid infrastructure is described, other potential usages featured and future developments illustrated.

The main idea of the article is to inform about the status of the Latvian Grid network, what is already possible there and on which developments IMCS UL is working now. The need for fast infrastructure is outlined as well.

The article described Grid infrastructure and possibilities of usage for science.  Also, article contained information about the First All Hands meeting in Vilnius 2006 April 26-28. Reader was introduced to the main ideas presented by  representatives of Baltic Grid members and guests.

An article titled "Tīkls uzvar superdatoru" (“Network wins supercomputer”) by Elīna Lidere, Jānis Riņķis from IMCS UL. A popular scientific article about the Grid technologies was published in the magazine “Mēs”. The Grid principles and terminology was explained, the BalticGrid project was mentioned and scientists were encouraged to learn more about Grid. All readers were encouraged to donate free resources of their computers for cancer and AIDS research.

An article titled  "Latvijas zinātnieki apgūst pasaules tehnoloģijas" ("Latvian scientists acquire world technologies") (page 1, page 2, page 3, page 4) by Jānis Riņķis, Katrīna Sataki from IMCS UL. A popular scientific article about the Grid technologies was published in the portal Delfi. The Grid principles and terminology was explained, the BalticGrid project was popularized and scientists were encouraged to learn more about Grid. Also the Grid Open Day was advertised and readers were invited to participate.

The main topic of the article was to show the Grid technology as a powerful and very useful tool for the scientific research, to present the future of computing and to describe projects that currently are in progress in Lithuania.
The paper also reflected the BalticGrid First All-Hands meeting.

It was described why the quantum chemical research is important in the field of nano technology; what possibilities have researches; why it is important to have powerful computers. Advantages of Grid technology were presented and exhibited on the example of its present day implementations in Lithuania.

Nowina-Konopka (and Michal Turala from IFJPAN) titled "GRID komputerowy – nowe narzędzie dla nauki i zastosowań" (in Polish) in which a brief explanation of the Grid concept is given and major European Grid projects are presented. Several examples of grid applications are described, in particular the particle physics case, including the structure, organisation and operations of the world-wide LHC Grid Collaboration.

Journal "Mokslas ir technika" (Science & Technique), Elekronika.lt In the article titled "Grid technologies are coming to Lithuania" by Andrius Bernotas the  background, aims and some facts about the BalticGrid project are presented to the general public. Two black and white illustrations depict the geographical distribution of involved institutions in Lithuania and the Lithuanian delegation together with the project leader and his assistant at the kick-off meeting in Krakow.

The article titled "Baltic Grid project connects Latvian scientists to the European network" (page 1, page 2) by Jānis Ķikuts, Bruno Martuzāns (IMCS UL) describes how the Grid infrastructure will be developed in Latvia and who the potential users are. It contains introduction about the significance of the Grid, information about the BalticGrid project and particularly about the role of IMCS UL.
21 Nov 2005 IT w Krakowie The "IT w Krakowie" online journal published an article by Pawel Plaszczak describing the aims and structure of the BalticGrid project and focusing on the participation of Polish scientists in this undertaking. The journal also included a note on the Cracow Grid Workshop and presented the principal topics of this year's edition.
19 Nov 2005 Dziennik Polski On 19 November 2005 the Cracow-area daily "Dziennik Polski" published an article on Grid computing titled "Komputery lacza sie" ("Computers unite"). The article detailed the Cracow Grid Workshop 2005 as well as the participation of the local scientific community in European Grid research projects such as CrossGrid, K-WfGrid and EGEE. Professor Michal Turala (of BalticGrid) was quoted along with dr Marian Bubak (of K-WfGrid). The article also directly mentioned the BalticGrid initiative and its goals, describing the BG kickoff conference held in Cracow in conjunction with CGW'05.

Fizikų žinios, Nr. 29 (2005) The article "World year of physics marches through contents" by Z. R. Rudzikas from ITPA was written in order to commemorate the World Year of physics declared by ENESCO and United Nations. New tendencies in science, enlargement of the European Union, new technologies, the role of information technologies, international co-operation. Illustration of these new tendencies is presented on the example of Baltic Grid and Litgrid projects. Life long learning, new possibilities to solve very complex physical and mathematical problems, using newest computing methods, systems and grids are described.
