The e-learning course on Grid computing fundamentals is now available

The e-learning resource on Grid computing fundamentals have been created in the Blackboard LMS environment and made accessible from the following web page http://bb.vu.lv.

The course has been developed in the framework of the BalticGrid-II project and can be accessed in two ways:

  • One can access this e-learning resource as a Guest user just to review the main course information.

    Open the web page http://bb.vu.lv and click on the Course Catalog button, then choose Preview. In the course search box type the name of the course: "Grid" and click on Go. To review the course as a Guest user click on Preview and the course will open for review.
     
  • One can create a private account with his/her individual user name and password, which also gives a student full access to the course materials and enrols him/her as an active student of the e-learning course. Then such a student can participate in discussion with his/her name and test results will be saved in his/her individual log. One can also communicate individually with tutors (if assigned) via e-mail.

    The procedure described below explains, how eventual student can enroll into the Blackboard LMS virtual environment to start individual learning.

    1. Open the web page http://bb.vu.lv.
    2. Move cursor to Course Catalog and click on it with a left button of your mouse. A new window will open.
    3. Click on Preview.
    4. In the course title box please write "Grid" and then click on the field Go.
    5. In a new window the Course title and Instructor name will appear. Then click on Enroll in the right side of the window. Then click on Create an account and a form will open.
    6. In this form you must fill in at least all parts marked with a red star. You can choose your own login and password. Please make a note with login and password for you not to forget them! As you finished with filling in the form please confirm it by clicking on Submit.
    7. The Blackboard system will confirm successful enrolment or may reveal some error. For example, your chosen login may already be used by other user. Then you must complete the procedure with filling in the form once more with a different login.   
    8. If system confirms registration, then please accept correctness of information with OK.
    9. Then Self Enrollment window will open and you must confirm your wish to be enrolled in the Grid course by clicking on Submit.
    10. At the end again confirm this with OK.
    11. Soon you will receive response from the tutor.
